Reflections on the Recent NNF Show & Tell Event

Last week Friday, the Namibia Nature Foundation (NNF) hosted a vibrant Show & Tell event, bringing together an inspiring mix of partners from communities, government, civil society, academia, the private sector, and funding agencies. The event was more than just a presentation of work; it was a powerful reflection NNF’s holistic approach to conservation and sustainable development in Namibia.

During the morning, attendees were introduced to NNF’s key workstreams, which include:

  • Community Conservation Partnerships and Safeguards, where local ownership of conservation helps both biodiversity and livelihoods;
  • Marine and Coastal conservation, safeguarding Namibia’s rich coastal ecosystems;
  • Freshwater and Inland fisheries, supporting healthy river systems;
  • Sustainable Agriculture, promoting practices that protect soil health, reduce environmental degradation and enhance food security;
  • Combatting Wildlife Crime, ensuring the protection of species and habitats;
  • Sustainable Forestry, working to maintain healthy tree cover and prevent land degradation;
  • Applied Scientific Research, offering evidence to inform policy, practice and project implementation;
  • and Technical Services, including capacity building, policy support, monitoring and evaluation.

The presentations demonstrated how these areas interconnect, for example, how forestry relates both to community livelihoods and climate resilience, or how scientific research underpins effective marine or wildlife protection.

Eckhardt Volkmann, from the Charcoal Association of Namibia (CAoN), who attended the event, remarked, “The Show & Tell format is a heavy weapon in terms of fundraising. It shows the organisation’s tangible structure and its biggest asset: their staff.”

The format proved not only engaging but effective. By creating space for meaningful conversations and direct interactions, the event helped deepen relationships and unlock new avenues for collaboration. NNF is deeply grateful to everyone who attended and contributed to the day’s success. As we move forward, we remain committed to building strong partnerships and driving positive change, together.
