
Namibian Association of CBNRM Support Organisations (NACSO) Vacancy: GIS Specialist
The Namibian Association of CBNRM Support Organisations (NACSO) is looking for a skilled and motivated GIS Specialist to support the work of the Natural Resources Working Group (NRWG) under Namibia’s Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) programme.
This position offers an exciting opportunity to drive conservation impact by strengthening geospatial systems and expanding access to spatial data and tools.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and modernise the CONINFO GIS system.

Expand spatial datasets to incorporate Trans-Frontier Conservation Areas (TFCAs).

Provide training and ongoing technical support to stakeholders, especially those with limited GIS capacity.

Design and implement innovative mapping solutions using platforms such as Google Earth and QGIS.
Required Qualifications and Experience

Master’s degree in natural resource management, geomatics, environmental science, or a related field.

8–10 years of practical experience in GIS and remote sensing.

Strong database management and spatial analysis skills.

Familiarity with conservation principles and community-based approaches is highly desirable.
This role is ideal for someone passionate about using geospatial tools to inform decision-making and support sustainable natural resource management in Namibia.
