The Namibian Association of CBNRM Support Organisations (NACSO) is looking for a skilled and motivated GIS Specialist to support the work of the Natural Resources Working Group (NRWG) under Namibia’s Community-Based Natural Resource Management (CBNRM) programme.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to drive conservation impact by strengthening geospatial systems and expanding access to spatial data and tools.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and modernise the CONINFO GIS system.

  • Expand spatial datasets to incorporate Trans-Frontier Conservation Areas (TFCAs).

  • Provide training and ongoing technical support to stakeholders, especially those with limited GIS capacity.

  • Design and implement innovative mapping solutions using platforms such as Google Earth and QGIS.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Master’s degree in natural resource management, geomatics, environmental science, or a related field.

  • 8–10 years of practical experience in GIS and remote sensing.

  • Strong database management and spatial analysis skills.

  • Familiarity with conservation principles and community-based approaches is highly desirable.
